Neighbourhood Watch scheme |

Hello dear neighbours!
My name is Lydia and I live on Fifth Avenue. I have been concerned lately about the lack of community and level of crimes within our lovely Avenues. As a local mother of four, I aim to contribute towards making our neighbourhood safer and friendlier through a combination of Neighbourhood Watch Scheme and Whatsapp Messaging systems to keep us all informed of local noteworthy happenings. We can use this opportunity to discuss issues such as suspicious characters checking gardens for parcels, a found open parcel, moped phone thieves in the area, a broken grate to be careful around, community events, traffic issues and whatever else is on our minds that affect others. This leaflet is to inform you that your home has been invited to join us on either the Neighbourhood Watch Scheme, or the Whatsapp Groups or both. The Neighbourhood Scheme is open to all, upon registration to the website, but the Whatsapp groups are only for those of you that have lived in the Queen’s Park Avenues for at least 2 years and only 1 member from each household may join, regardless of tenure. A Neighbourhood Watch scheme is a community-led crime prevention initiative where neighbours work together to deter crime, reduce fear, and build stronger communities by looking out for one another and sharing information with local police. These volunteer groups focus on crime prevention, but also engage in community projects, foster neighbourliness, and can offer support to vulnerable residents. You can join our local group by going to https://www.ourwatch.org.uk/ and searching for Queen's Park Avenues Neighbourhood Watch (000182168).
To join the local Whatsapp groups (there will be 2 linked groups due to the number of properties in the area) please send a text to 07821757180 (my direct line) with your property number, street name and first name. I understand you may be worried about the safety of sending these details but many of you may already know me as the local childminder with the 6 seater pram that closed years ago or as the volunteer that supplied groceries and meals to homes during Covid, or as a person who ran a huge local charity raffle last year or a current member of the local Healthy Homes Forum. I am always seen around local playgrounds, events or library with my children and you are welcome to Google me and see I am a genuine person who lives in this community. Once set up, I will organise a local face-to-face group meeting, more details to follow. There are a lot of homes for me to organise so please do be patient and I will get back to you to welcome you as soon as I am able to get round to you all. Thank you for reading and I look forward to making a difference. Lydia Abou-Jaib
